Date set for first hearing in trial of journalist Muhammad Al-Mayahi

The Specialized Criminal Court of the Capital Secretariat has set the date for the first hearing in the trial of journalist Muhammad Dabwan Al-Mayahi.

According to Me Ammar Ali Yassin, Al-Mayahi’s lawyer, the hearing will take place next Monday, May 12, 2025.

Lawyer Yassin said the hearing would be public, welcoming all lawyers who wish to volunteer to defend Al-Mayahi.

Yassin said: Although the court is considered one of the special courts that are ostracized locally and internationally, we hope that the trial there will be fair, impartial and free from interference.

He added: God willing, we will drop the charges against Muhammad Al-Mayahi and we will obtain his freedom immediately and at the first hearing.

Al-Mayahi was arrested on September 20, 2024 in connection with publications criticizing the performance of the Houthi authorities.
